Tattoo The Earth, Phoenix AZ
from Terrorizer (Catherine Yates)

...Next up, Suprise Band Of The Day Award.  Finding their sub-Big Chief alt rock stew as unbearable on record as their art rock image, it comes as a bit of a shock that the normally bright of coiffeur and dapper attire Workhorse Movement take the stage looking like they walked through the desert to get there.  Bedraggled and stripped to the waist, they deliver a set so shudderingly bombastic that it seems to come from the very mountains themselves.  Hopefully this bodes well for the imminent UK appearances...

OK, I admit when I went to the show I really had little clue who they were.  I had heard a demo tape sent to me by roadrunner and a couple of songs on MP3 but that was about it.  To sum it up in one sentence – they blew me away.
With such energy and obvious love of their music and fans (and beer, of course), it was contagious.  I soon found myself unable to take my eyes off the stage. The pulsating bass (and general wall of sound) was intoxicating and the atmosphere in the crowd was  pure infectious, enthusiasm, especially when Myron and Cornbread leapt into the crowd mid-song – participation that many well-known bands would do well to note.  Nothing like seeing two grown men having so much fun, surfing over their adoring fans.
TWM also had great respect for the bands they shared the bill with, more than once inciting the crowd to cheer as loud as possible for the incredibly bouncy sona fariq, and the eagerly awaited Pitchshifter.  Was I impressed?  Damn right I was – enough so, that this very day, the day after the show, I made a web page for the band – this very page you are reading. TWM deserve all the success that comes to them – and I am sure there will be plenty of it.  Worth dropping out of college for I am sure.

...... The Workhorse Movement's twin vocalists Myron and Cornbread look like they could actually be brothers with their newly-shaved heads and immense matching frames, and there is a lot of hardcore-style talk of brotherhood and family.  It doesn't come across as cheesy though, especially as they seem to be having such a great time delivering they monster groove to the masses.  They're another unique and difficult-tohole band, coming across like The Stooges kicking seven shades of shit out of Sabbath at a Public Enemy show....
